They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They’re right.
No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking.
He is my forbidden, shiny apple.
The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth.
He is also my sister’s ex-boyfriend.
One thing you should know before you judge me;
I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first.
Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance.
Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. My white knight has finally arrived. Hopefully, he isn’t too late.

Dean

They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest. They’re right.
She sets my mind on fire.
All smart mouth, snarky attitude and a huge heart.
In a world where everything is dull, she shines like fucking Sirius.
Eleven years ago, fate tore us apart.
This time, I dare it to try.
Getting to her is a battlefield, but man, that’s why they call me Ruckus.
Rosie LeBlanc is about to find out how hard I can fight.
And conquering her will be the sweetest victory.

Review, reflections, and teasers:

*****A blindingly bright Sirius star to Earth*****

“And unlike justice and life, love is fair. What’s more? Eventually, love was enough. Eventually, it was fucking everything.”

Some people ask why a reader insanely cries because of a story. The answer is that they will never understand not until they come to read certain words that will cut through their heart.

I am warning you! Ruckus is not just a hot and sexy story as you are expecting as it is. It’s scorching hot? Damn yes! Dean Cole is cocky beautiful species on Earth that will make you swoon. He’s not perfect but you will love him for his imperfections. And he’s destined to Rosie the moment they held each other’s gaze.

But other than that, Ruckus has angst that made me an ugly sobbing mess while I tucked and hidden myself under a blanket crying. If it’s not gonna touch you a little bit, I don’t know what type of stone are you made from.

“You are chaotic, crazy, and full of wars and angst. But you’re the liveliest place I’ve ever been to.”

In life, there were problems that pulled as from the past, still holds our string at present, and probably affects our future. With all the obstacles Dean and Rosie have tackled and were able to overcome, I really admired their chemistry a hundred and one percent. For being both so tough and loyal without being said.

THIS BOOK DESERVES EVERYONE WITH RAGING HORMONES AND A HEART THEIR ATTENTION!

A Heartbreaking Forbidden Romance [Book Review: Somebody Else’s Sky by Jessica Hawkins]

Somebody Else’s Sky is the second book and sequel of Something In the Way. You must read the first book before jumping on this one.

Book Cover:

(That’s our man, Manning, in the cover!)

Model: Chase Williams

Blurb:

If I closed my eyes, I could still see them—all blonde sunshine, ocean-blue eyes, and long limbs. The glint of Lake’s gold bracelet. Pink cotton candy on Tiffany’s tongue. My scenery may have changed from heaven to hell, but some things never would: my struggle to do right by both sisters. To let Lake soar. To lift Tiffany up. The sacrifices I made for them, I made willingly.

A better man would’ve walked away by now, but I never claimed to be any good. I only promised myself I’d keep enough distance. If I’d learned one thing from my past, it was that love came in different forms. You could love passionately, hurt deep, die young. Or you could provide the kind of firm, steady support someone else could lean on.

Lake was everything I wanted, and nothing I could ever have. I was nobody before I knew her and a criminal after. The way to love her was to let her shine—even if it would be for somebody else.

Review and Reflections:

Reading this book or this series rather was like putting a ton of gravel into my chest. It seriously affected me whole—emotionally. I’m so sad maybe in a good way because it was written so beautiful!

“Maybe one day, Manning and I would challenge fate, defy gravity, and move the stars ourselves. But today was not that day.”

The impact to me was so strong. Maybe because the story made me feel what it’s like to love with all your heart yet the feeling wasn’t enough. Not if the practical reality of life says no.

Teaser 1.jpg

“You know it’s true, Manning, you have to. You’ve always known that my heart doesn’t function right without you, that food doesn’t taste the same and air is too thick, and my mind is always wandering back to that night on the lake, because I’m all wrong without you, because I’m in love with you.”

It hurts to witness Lake feeling helpless and fate being unfair between her and Manning. Was it wrong to feel right even everything around you dictates that it wasn’t? It’s sick that they can’t do anything but weigh the probabilities of the outcomes.

“You should have the world. Fuck the world—you should have the universe, the sky, and every star in it.”

“I can’t give that to you. I’ll never be able to. I’ve seen too much. Had too much taken away. I can’t be happy enough to make you happy, and I can’t provide for you the way you deserve. You’re at the start of your life, on your way up, and I . . .” He inhaled a breath through his nose, wincing like it pained him. “I can only bring you down.”

Here’s my song for this blog:

‘I Want Tears’ by Michelle Branch

I want tears, I want rain
If that’s what leads me back to you
Even if that means feelin’ the pain, that’s what we gotta do
Let it fall apart, come on and break my heart
Yeah, break it right in two
‘Cause I don’t want to smile if that means losin’ you
I want tears

“Manning had once told me you couldn’t move the stars. I’d thought that meant our love was predestined, written in the night sky, sure as death. Behind my lids, I pictured the two stars and realized for the first time the permanent distance between them. And I accepted that there was, and always had been, a third star. You can’t move the stars. I had tried, and I had failed.”

Find out what the fate will bring Lake and Manning in the conclusion of the series entitled ‘Move The Stars’ (Something In the Way #3) to come out on October 2017.

“Why does sometimes it feels right to be wrong?” : MY REVIEW for ‘Something in the Way’ by Jessica Hawkins

Blurb and book cover:

Possible Spoilers!!!

You can’t move the stars.Manning and I were inevitable.

Manning is 6 years older than Lake. The first time they met, Lake was kind of afraid by the overall looks of him—huge and tall. Needless to say, she just tried to hide the good looks of him that she noticed and she gets attracted right away.

Manning cares (a lot) to Lake. By some ways, she reminds him of her dead sister Maddy. However, they may have some resemblance yet there’s something in Lake that he finds different. Lake seems like a little girl but when you know her closely, she got a mature self inside. So that meant, Manning was still unsure but there were moments especially when they’re alone together, where there’s something in him that urges him to care more to Lake than what an older brother should have (or be expected him to treat) to a little sister.

Manning and I needed Tiffany, but at the same time, there was no denying—she was also something in the way.

Oh! I have to include this quote cause this is the part when the title was mentioned as if everything just started to make sense. (lol)

We often hear the saying, “Age doesn’t matter.” Some would easily say that they agree as long as two persons really love each other, they would find a way to defy it.

In Manning and Lake’s case, there were a lot of things to consider and dealing with Lake’s father was the major problem. Her father has a lot of dreams and hopes for his daughter making him so strict. He wouldn’t let his child become like Tiffany, Lake’s older sister, who paid less attention to her studies and won’t even find a job. Because of that, will being close to Manning—a construction worker in the neighborhood— would do any good for Lake? Her dad won’t even allow them to be friends, what more if it’s gonna be deeper than that?

Another hindrance as the quote mentioned was Tiffany. Lake saw Manning first but it doesn’t mean she have all the rights to own him. Tiffany is sexy and beautiful, and it’s a fact that no one can deny. She get all the guys she wants and meeting Manning is not an exception. And to be closer to Lake, Manning needs to get close to her sister too if that’s what it takes. And since Tiffany was the right one to be with in whatever angle the reality has to say, Manning accepted that as long as he could take care of Lake too.

Reactions:

To say that I love this story is quite an understatement. I could add a lot of adjectives to say how amazing it is! You can say that I’m exaggerating but who cares? I like it freaking much! I’m so excited for the next book. Those 2 years that decided Manning’s fate are exactly how long Lake’s going to be on school before 18. So the next book will probably covering up the time after 2 years when Lake is already on legal age and Manning will be free.

I highly suggest everyone to read this book! There’s something between Manning and Lake’s situation and relationship that will really put a pang in your heart. If you haven’t read it yet, purchase your copy here.

Somebody Else’s Sky (Book 2/3) is coming out on May 22. You can pre-order your copy on Amazon

Song for the book: One of These Days by Michelle Branch

I really love thinking of songs for books I read and I can say that this song is perfect for Something in the Way. If you’ll happen to know the lyrics, it could be a message from Lake to Manning.

One of these days
I won’t be afraid of staying with you
I hope and I pray
Waiting to find a way back to you
Cause that’s where I’m home

Playlist to your favorite books ♪♪♫

“Music is a piece of art that goes in the ears straight to the heart.”-Unknown

Reading is amazing but isn’t it more cool if it is accompanied with music? It adds more emotions to a story and makes it even more special to us whenever a song reminds us of a specific book title when we come to hear them out of the blue. I have read some books with song titles in it, some authors even create playlists on their books.

So the reason this topic draws my interest is because I have recently noticed  myself creating my own playlists or putting songs as tracks to my current reads or books that I’ve read. There are times when books lead me to discover songs that I haven’t heard yet and become so fond of it. One perfect example is my built interest to The Beatles because of Morgan Matson’s writings. Also, this is definitely due to my current obsession on the song “Thank You” by Dido which happened to perfectly fit Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell’s story from the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. If you are not familiar to them, let me share a little something about the book which I’ll be posting below.

Here are some parts of the song lyrics:

And even if I could it’d all be grey, but your picture on my wall
it reminds me that it’s not so bad
it’s not so bad

and even if I’m there, they’ll all imply that I might not last the
day
and then you call me and it’s not so bad
it’s not so bad and

Push the door, I’m home at last and I’m soaking through and
through
then you handed me a towel and all I see is you
and even if my house falls down now, I wouldn’t have a clue
because you’re near me and

I want to thank you for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you is having the best day of my life

As I have mentioned in my goodreads review, this song, for me, interprets much of their affections to each other. That no matter how bad their day went, as long as one of them sees their other half or hear their voices in the phone, all those bad things will immediately be good, and the darkness will be filled with light. Such a very sweet thing, right? I love this couple!

And to share some of the songs I accompanied with the books I have read before, here’s a short list:

Rude by Magic – The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

Lucky One by Simple Plan – The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

Your Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus – Crescendo from Hush Hush Saga by Becca Fitzpatrick

Sad Song by We The Kings – Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

A friend also mentioned some recommendations of songs which fit a book we’ve read. It is ‘You Found Me’, and ‘How to Save a Life’ by The Fray to Jennifer Niven’s All the Bright Places.

Do you do the same thing as I usually did? If so, what are those songs and book titles? It really gives me an amazing feeling. Remembering fictional characters with every lines of a song. That way, we never lose them in our hearts, in our minds, even if we sing or listen to musics.
